Ali Fedotowsky Cancels Mexico Wedding Over Zika Virus
That darn Zika virus is putting a damper on everything. First, the 2016 Summer Olympics, and now Ali Fedotowsky’s wedding!
Though the former Bachelorette star and fiancé Kevin Manno are expecting their first child, a daughter, in a matter of weeks, she reveals the couple had started planning for their big day — until things went awry.
“Originally, we planned the whole wedding in Mexico,” Ali tells The Knot. “We were super excited. We found the most amazing location and villa that would allow our entire family to stay with us. Then, all the news broke about the Zika virus and we had to cancel.”
The 31-year-old didn’t cancel the nuptials because of her pregnancy, as she says the date was set for after their little girl arrives in July. Instead, it was more out of respect to their guests.
“We just didn’t think it was fair to ask our guests to travel to a location with active Zika virus transmissions,” she reasons. “Most of our friends are in ‘baby mode,’ and that just wasn’t a fair ask.”
This isn’t the only time their plans fell through, either. The future Mr. and Mrs. Manno had also planned a wedding in California in January 2016, which got postponed after the former E! News correspondent found out she was pregnant.
Though they could have kept the date, the blogger says she’d rather “celebrate with champagne” on her big day.
She admits, “I want to be able to let loose and completely enjoy myself at my wedding. I didn’t know how pregnancy would affect me so I didn’t want to risk feeling crappy on my wedding day.”
So now it’s back to square one for the couple, who have hired an event planner for the affair — the same woman who threw her amazing baby shower in April.

As stunning as it may turn out, unfortunately, we’re not going to be able to watch it on TV.
“No one has asked us to get married on live TV, but I don’t think we would do that. It seems too stressful to me. Kevin and I have both done enough live television to know that so many things can go wrong!”
