‘American Idol’ Contestant Corey Clark Arrested For Domestic Violence
American Idol has launched many a career — but it has also had its fair share of drama.
Former contestant Corey Clark was arrested this Wednesday, September 23, after allegedly violating a protective order taken out against him. The order stems from when he confronted his estranged wife, Monica, and a man he believed she was dating at the Yuma County Courthouse.
Corey appeared in Yuma Justice court on Thursday, September 24, and his bail was set at $20K, according to the Yuma Sun.
Monica alleges that Corey went against a protective order saying he can only contact her via email and only to discuss their children. Supposedly Corey crossed the line by asking about Monica’s new relationship and, when she didn’t respond to the emails, followed her to a restaurant and stared at her from outside while she ate dinner. Creepy, right?
As The Wrap reports, one of the emails he sent his wife reads, “You still fill my heart with so much joy whenever I get the chance to see you. I wish things were different with us. I wish things were better for us.”
This isn’t the first controversy Corey has faced. He was disqualified from American Idol Season 2 after not disclosing his arrest record and later accused former judge Paula Abdul of trying to start an affair with him on the show. The ‘80s icon was later cleared of this accusation.
The final season of American Idol will premiere early 2016.
