‘America’s Next Top Model’ Returns on VH1 — Is Tyra Banks Involved?
VH1 has picked up the show, which aired for 22 cycles on UPN and The CW before its cancellation, for a 14-episode run with the supermodel and Ken Mok returning as the show’s bosses.
But that’s where the similarities end.
“After creating an incredible, global brand, I am beyond excited to have the show reborn,” Tyra, 42, said in a press release. “I will continue as executive producer, but must turn my attention to new business endeavors, so I want to find a new host.”
OK, our hearts are elated and broken all at the same time.
“I’m pumped to identify that person and bring back the show,” she continued. “Top Model fans, you demanded that the show come back, and VH1 answered the call. Get ready for a fierce-a-fied rebirth!”
In addition to a new host — because of course Tyra wants to focus on her new baby — we’ll also be getting a brand new gaggle of judges. With all these changes, the press release promises fans will see a show that’s been “reinvented for a new generation.”
Let’s just hope ANTM returns to its roots and drops most of the added twists in later seasons like the social media/fan vote, petty drama, and (sadly) the male eye candy.
