Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Chandra Wilson Wants to Be Mama Pope on ‘Scandal’
Chandra Wilson seems completely content to bring Miranda Bailey to the small screen every Thursday on Grey's Anatomy. But ABC News Radio asked the 46-year-old actress a helluva hypothetical: Which other Shondaland role would she wanna play?
“I guess Mama Pope is really kind of interesting,” Chandra said of Olivia Pope’s lethal mother on Scandal. “‘Cause [actress] Khandi [Alexander] is crazy as I don’t know what! So yeah, that would probably be fun in some other universe!”
(That might necessitate a younger Olivia; Chandra is only eight years older than Kerry Washington!)
Meanwhile, Scandal star Bellamy Young, who plays presidential candidate Mellie Grant, previously told Entertainment Weekly she’d like Chandra’s role… so we could really do one big game of Shondaland musical chairs!
Chandra also revealed to ABC News Radio that Grey’s Anatomy fans accost her for medical advice.
“We do get the jokes… ‘Hey doc! My so-and-so hurts! What do I do?’” the SAG Award winner laughed. “And I just always refer people to 911. Don’t ask me! I am not the person to ask!”
Better to be mistaken as a doctor than as a mass killer, we’d say...
Grey’s Anatomy airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
