DeMario Jackson Cries Over ‘BIP’ Scandal: “I’m Not That Monster”

Following the controversial scandal that nearly shut down Bachelor in Paradise for good, DeMario Jackson’s finally able to tell his side of the story.

On last night’s episode of BIP Season 4, host Chris Harrison sat down with the reality star and asked him to describe the events leading up to the scandal.

The 30-year-old opened up about his relationship with Corinne Olympios, the other cast member involved in the scandal, and how the backlash affected his family.

"We got turnt up. We're at the bar, we're hanging out, one thing leads to another, and we're making out. I'm like, oh wow, Paradise is going,” he shared.

Following the makeout, Corinne decided the pair should get into the pool.

"I mean, who would say no to Corinne? One thing leads to another and the pool gets a little intense, and I didn't think anything of it."

Then, the next day, everything was completely fine between the duo.

"The next day was fine. Actually Corinne and I discussed about how she knows how to bake pies,” he said.

“We found out we have mutual friends who live in the same building. We spoke, we had great breakfasts...I never once thought that I would be here, today, speaking to you guys, in the middle of a crazy scandal. Never once."

The former Bachelorette contestant was then approached by a producer who explained a third party had filed a complaint about him and the 24-year-old.

DeMario was first worried Corinne had filed the complaint, but when he found out she wasn’t the one, he became confused.

"Then why are we having this conversation?" he asked.

"I'm not complaining, she's not complaining, it's on tape, people were walking by, people were witnessing all of this happening, then why are we having this conversation?"

He then became noticeably emotional when describing the aftermath of the scandal, especially with how it affected his family and friends.

"I know who I am. I know I'm not that monster they're trying to portray on TV. Like Michelle Obama said, 'When they go low, you go high.' It was hard to go high, but I had to do it because I train and mentor children, and I can't tell them to be something that I'm not,” he shared.

"It's tough. It's difficult. I love my mom more than anything in this world. Seeing her cry every single day, it was difficult.”

He continued, “I'm her everything, best friends. I had to make her deactivate [her social media], because she was going to war defending me. It sucked."

Then, when asked how he made it through the tough times, DeMario responded with, “Family, friends and Kanye West.”
