Donald Trump Elected 45th President of the United States
Donald Trump won Tuesday’s presidential election in a shocking upset.
The Republican nominee defeated Hillary Clinton after winning key states including Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
The results were officially announced around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9.
“I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans, and this is so important to me,” he said after his victory in New York City.
“For those who have chosen not to support me in the past — of which there were a few people — I’m reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so we can unify our great country.”
The 70-year-old also said Hillary called to concede and congratulate him on the victory.
“I’ve just received a call from Secretary Clinton, she congratulated us, it’s about us, on our victory. And I congratulated her and her family on a very, very hard-fought campaign. She fought very hard,” he added.
Though he trailed in the polls throughout the month of October and into November, the billionaire was able to win crucial swing states, giving him the edge over his opponent.
The Trump family, including children Donald Jr., 38, Ivanka, 35, Eric, 32, Tiffany, 23, and 10-year-old Barron, celebrated the victory with the Apprentice star and joined him on stage during his speech.
He will be inaugurated in January and will become the 45th president of the United States.
