Victoria Arlen Eliminated From ‘DWTS’ After Scoring First 10s of the Season
Another couple bites the dust.
This came as a shock to most fans, especially because the former Paralympic swimmer had just earned her first 10s of the season.
For her final two dances, the 23-year-old performed a beautiful contemporary routine and earned an impressive 27 out of 30.
The dance was especially moving because, just 15 months ago, the ESPN reporter wasn’t able to walk after being diagnosed with a neurological condition when she was 11.
She was in a vegetative state for four years and slowly regained her ability to speak and walk.
For their second performance, Team ViVa recreated Season 17 winners Derek Hough and Amber Riley’s Charleston.
That performance earned her 10s from judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli for an impressive score of 29 out of 30.
“Val has shown me I was looking down at my feet but for the first time I’m looking up. I’m holding my head up higher and I’m not worrying about my feet,” she said before performing.
She also opened up about really wanting to make it to the finals, especially since she wasn’t even able to walk a couple of years ago.
“Making it to the finals would mean the world to me,” she shared.
“Who would’ve thought the person who was paralyzed a year-and-a-half ago would be dancing in the semifinals? I want to go to the finals, and I want to win.”
Unfortunately, they were eliminated at the end of the episode and Victoria was visibly upset.
“Be proud of yourself, there’s nothing to be upset about. So proud of you,” Val said after they found out.
“Thank you to the show for trusting me with an amazing young woman,” he continued.
“The future is bright for you."
The four couples heading to next week’s finale are Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold, Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas, Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson, and Drew Scott and Emma Slater.
