DWTS Pros Emma Slater and Sasha Farber Broke Up But Still Live Together As “Best Friends”
It’s not always easy to stay friends after a breakup, but how about staying roommates? Dancing With the Stars pros Emma Slater and Sasha Farber are setting a high bar for amicable splits, staying besties and also living together — when not traveling the country together on the DWTS live tour.
Sasha made his debut in the DWTS troupe in Season 13, and in Season 14 he was joined by his girlfriend, Emma. However, toward the start of Season 19 back in September, Emma posted an Instagram photo of Sasha — looking happy in mid-jump — revealing that they had broken up. As Emma wrote at the time:
“@sashafarber1 may or may not kill me for posting this picture. But I just had to. Sash, we created many many beautiful memories, all of them I'm grateful for. I'll cherish the journey we traveled together and will always have deep respect for you. Even though life has now taken us in separate directions, and we will no longer head for the same future we once visioned, I'm so grateful I've had this time with you. I believe my life was enriched through knowing you so well. I only wish you the absolute best you can ever wish another person.”
That was a few months ago, but Emma just talked to Glamour while on the tour. They asked Emma if it’s hard to still work together so closely, especially since they are on tour together.
“You know, it goes through moments, but I think the world of Sasha. I really do,” Emma said. “I wouldn’t have been so close to him for three years of my life. He’s just the best person. I don’t think we’re supposed to finish together. I think there are other people that might make us both individually happy, but I’m always going to be his best friend. I feel like his best friend right now. It has just happened in the way we have gone from a beautiful three-year relationship, which I love and cherish, to best friends. I still live with him.”
Emma said they used to live with Tristan MacManus too, but after he got married he moved to England to compete as a pro on Strictly Come Dancing. But Emma and Sasha are “completely fine” just living together, she added. “I just have so much respect for him. We both understood that it wasn’t going the way that it should forever, so we were mature about it and made that decision, but we amicably agreed — we’re family. He’s the only family I have in America, and we still love each other. For now, living together is just totally fine. It’s not going to be forever, but I was glad that he decided to go on tour with me. I only ever want the best for him, but I will be there because we’re going to be there for each other.”
Only Emma could make a breakup sound charming! Hopefully the future only has great things for both of them, together on the dance floor (please be in Season 20) or apart with others.
