‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers Roundup: New Filming Details Give Major Clues

Game of Thrones Season 6 filming is underway, and while the cast and crew are vigilantly keeping major spoilers under wraps, smart fans can take away some clues from what little info is out there.

Here's the latest scoop from the Game of Thrones set — and what it might mean for Season 6!

A new King's Landing. King's Landing might look a bit different this year. As we've previously reported, Croatia, the former stand-in for Westeros' capital, is out this year. Aaccording to Spanish website Los Siete Reinos, Girona, Spain will stand in for King's Landing this year, as well as parts of Braavos. This change could be purely about production logistics, but we have to wonder if it means we'll also see a different part of the city. Maybe more focus on the Sparrows and their work with the poor?

Here are a couple glimpses of what the set looks like — though we can't be sure if this is Braavos or King's Landing.

Character rumors.
Watchers on the Wall reports a rugged, 30-something pirate character, who we're guessing will be linked to Euron Greyjoy, a key book character we're pretty sure is coming next season.

Watchers on the Wall also reports characters called Smalljon Umber and Lord Karstark are both being cast. It's unclear how closely these characters will be related to their book counterparts, but it seems safe to guess they will, at the very least, be lords in the North, suggesting an increased focus in the areas around Winterfell. Maybe they'll lend Sansa a hand now that she's escaped Roose Bolton's grasp?

Casting updates: There's been very little official casting news, but Ghanaian actress Souad Faress' talent agency reports she's been cast in an unspecified role, while Icelandic site Vísir says actor Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson has snagged a two-episode part.

Kit Harington is in London. The latest from KitWatch 2015: the man formerly known as Jon Snow was spotted in London on August 27. The bad news: Game of Thrones does not film in London. The good news: he still has the Jon Snow hair.
