‘Hunger Games’ Actress Amandla Stenberg Comes Out as Bisexual (VIDEO)


Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg joins the ranks of awesome young Hollywood stars proving sexuality falls on a very wide spectrum.

The teen queen revealed she identifies as bisexual in a super honest video for Teen Vogue.

“As someone who identifies as a black, bisexual woman I’ve been through it, and it hurts, and it’s awkward and it’s uncomfortable,” she admitted in the nearly 2-minute clip. “Here I am being myself and it’s definitely hard and vulnerable and it’s definitely a process but I’m learning and I’m growing.”

The Sleepy Hollow alum, 17, took over the magazine’s Snapchat account on Thursday, January 7, and capped off the social media bonanza with her thoughtful announcement.

“It’s a really, really hard thing to be silenced and it’s deeply bruising to fight against your identity,” the curly girl continued, “to mold yourself into shapes that you just shouldn’t be in.”

Amandla, who played Rue in the first Hunger Games film, later counted Solange Knowles, director Ava DuVernay, and “all the black girls watching this right now” as her inspirations to share her story.

“We cannot be suppressed,” Rowan Blanchard’s BFF added. “We are meant to express our joy and our love and our tears and be big and bold and definitely not easy to swallow.”

Amandla went to prom with Jaden Smith last year, who is now famously the face of Louis Vuitton for women and can be seen rocking a skirt in their latest ads.
