Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner Defend Married at First Sight After Scandals
Married At First Sight’s second season wrapped up with part one of the six-month reunion this week. And even though we’re obsessed with the show, it’s come under fire recently after Jessica Castro filed for a restraining order against match and husband Ryan De Nino. Yikes! Maybe the matching process isn’t as great as it originally seemed?
But if there’s one set of opinions on MAFS that we trust, it’s Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner’s. The Season 1 success story is defending the show and the experts in the wake of the controversy, and they give us plenty of reasons to believe that what happened with Jessica and Ryan might just be an outlying occurence.
Not only did Doug take to Instagram to stand behind the matching process, but Jamie headed to Twitter to set the record straight, too.
#BOTTOMLINE A #marriedatfirstsight Match is based on Who you THINK you are/What you THINK you want/What you show the Experts! Get it RIGHT, you found your Life Partner! Get it WRONG, you just learned Who you REALLY are & What you REALLY want! There are no failures on #MarriedAtFirstSight just people willing to take a chance. When was the last time you took one?
“One thing I can honestly say abt #MarriedAtFirstSight is that they don’t overly edit for ‘drama’,” Jamie tweeted. “And I know because I’ve been a part of that too. Silly how people ? the process #MAFS doesn’t want ‘drama’ they want marriages — that makes them look better. But they work w what their [sic] dealt.”
She also tweeted out a link to the recent People magazine article that explains the matching process the show uses more in depth.
It’s heartbreaking that Jessica and Ryan’s marriage fell apart in such a scary way, but let’s not give up on the show just yet! Season 3 is about to begin, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for the next generation of couples, and that they’ll find their happily ever afters this time around!
