Jenelle Evans Still Wants to Quit ‘Teen Mom 2’: “It’s Mentally Hurting Me” (VIDEO)
Jenelle Evans is still serious about possibly quitting the show that made her "famous."
After last week's episode of Teen Mom 2, which she feels was unedited unfairly to make her husband, David Eason, look abusive, and herself out to be a neglectful mother, Jenelle went to social media (and the press) to declare that she wants to leave the series.
And though her wounds have had time to heal, she's still going through with those threats.
After the October 9 episode aired, Jenelle revealed she felt she was being edited and treated unfairly, and was contemplating leaving the show for good.
"I have decided after this season I’m probably calling it quits for filming this show. I told [a producer] it’s getting too out of hand and it’s not healthy for us anymore, just harming us mentally," she wrote on Instagram.
Yes, me and David have our ups and downs but yesterdays episode was uncalled for. Because David didnt feel like explaining another argument or drama on camera they make it look as if David is hiding some weird ass shit from the public as if he was hurting me in some way?! I have decided after this season Im probably calling it quits for filming this show. I told Morgan its getting to out of hand and its not healthy for us anymore, just harming us mentally. They treat all of us as if we are in a freak show and in cages. WE arent human beings to @mtv what-so-ever. The first screenshot of the custody episode someone posted photoshopping a hand mark on my arm. The other screenshots are pictures Ive taken myself from the same episode... and there arent any hand marks. Once they treat me with respect Ill be back, if they dont Ill be happy with the life Ive got. I told them this last night. #MarriedLife #MIA
"They treat all of us as if we are in a freak show and in cages. WE aren’t human beings to @mtv what-so-ever [sic].”
And here we are, two weeks later, and the mom of three still isn't over it.
TMZ caught up with the reality star and her beau at LAX, where she spoke candidly about whether or not she plans to return to the show.
"I have no idea [if I'm coming back] because it's really mentally hurting me. My kids are seeing me cry from comments online and they're upset because I'm upset, then [David]'s upset. So my whole famxily is effected and it's not in a good way," she told the paps.
"I understand we have fights, that's fine, you can show the fights. But don't try to create drama when there wasn't a fight. Or subtitling my son, like, come on."
The "subtitling my son" comment was in reference to this scene in particular, where MTV made it seem like Kaiser was saying "feed me" while his mom and future stepdad posed for their "save the date" photos.
However, the Read Between the Lines author claimed he didn't actually say those words and has a speech impediment.
“He was actually yelling and pointing at Jace because Jace took his toy,” she told People. “They bicker like this all the time.”
“I try helping him re-pronounce the word a few times until he gets it better,” says the 25-year-old. “Sometimes he even takes a toy and throws it on the floor out of anger because of us not being able to understand him.”
The North Carolina gal also told TMZ that like producers, her mom, Barbara Evans, is pressuring her to stay on the show.
"My mom's also texting me saying, 'you better do this show, you better do this because you wont have anybody the rest of your life.' Everyone's trying to force me into it and I'm just not liking that," she adds.
So, what will get her to sign another contract next season?
"They just have to treat me right," Jenelle concludes.
It's just funny that this interview was done at LAX; Jenelle and her Teen Mom 2 co-stars are all in Los Angeles now where they're set to film the Season 8 reunion special this weekend.
Plus, it seems like Jenelle might not have a choice in the matter about filming in the near future.
According to a source, the girls are already in production mode for what MTV is dubbing Season 8 Part B, meaning they're just extending the current season and the cast won't have to sign any new contracts.
“The girls signed on to Season 8 knowing that the network has the opportunity to extend the season and basically do a whole other season of episodes under the Season 8 contract,” one source tells The Ashley. “MTV has done this for several of the previous seasons.”
This also means they'll be getting some additional money for the new episodes, but not an entire new salary.
We guess this means Jenelle is contractually obligated to at least film through Season 8B, but let's be real — she's totally going to sign on the dotted line for Season 9 eventually, too.
Teen Mom 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
