Jill & Derick Dillard Get Backlash for Using a Tortilla as a Hat For Their Son
Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, have once again come under fire, this time for their parenting skills.
The family visited a friend’s farm, and in a slideshow of pictures Jill shared, her almost 2-month-old son, Samuel, was seen wearing a tortilla as a hat.
People were quick to comment that was not a suitable way to protect a child from the sun.
“They don’t have enough sense to have hats for the kids,” one person commented on the Instagram photos. “They rather use a stupid tortilla. Wonder if they used sunscreen on them?”
“Ummm...a hat probably would have been a better choice for him not to burn,” another person added.
Some even took to Twitter to criticize the mom of two.
U have zero common sense. New baby skin in direct sunlight and no hat? Do u have any critical thinking skills at all?— Claire (@multiclaire) September 7, 2017
“U have zero common sense. New baby skin in direct sunlight and no hat? Do u have any critical thinking skills at all? [sic]” one said.
“Why is he wearing a tortilla for a hat and mittens on his hands. Hats on babies and young children is so important [sic],” another person Tweeted.
@derick4Him why is he wearing a tortilla for a hat and. Mittens on his hands. Hats on babies and young children is so important.— Tracey Ann (@LavelleTracey) September 7, 2017
“Unbelieveable,” someone else replied to the tweet.
This is just another controversy in the long list of issues people have had with Jill and Derick recently.
Just a little over a week ago, people were infuriated the young couple was asking for donations for their next mission trip, despite getting paid for their TLC show, Counting On.
“You should be ashamed of yourselves,” one person commented when Jill shared their donation page on Instagram.
Prior to that, Derick was under fire for making transphobic comments about fellow TLC reality star, Jazz Jennings.
“What an oxymoron,” he tweeted back in August. “A ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality.”
What an oxymoron... a "reality" show which follows a non-reality. "Transgender" is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God. https://t.co/YxzH5o5Ujx— Derick Dillard (@derick4Him) August 3, 2017
In another tweet, he also misgendered Jazz, referring to her as a “him.”
It’s clear Jill and Derick aren’t exactly beloved by fans these days.
