Kaitlyn Bristowe Reveals Why She’s Freezing Her Eggs — With Shawn’s Support!

They’ve been engaged for nearly two years, and still Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth seem in no rush to tie the knot.

Recently, they even teased that babies might come before a big wedding. But then, last week, the Bachelorette 2015 star revealed she was freezing her eggs.

The 31-year-old met up with fellow franchise stars Andi Dorfman and Carly Waddell in Chicago to undergo the fertility procedure.

And according to an Instagram post by her fiancé on Friday, this was something the two had planned for together.

The personal trainer wrote of his future wife, “Always impressed by her strength & courage, but even more so after these past few weeks! Very proud of her taking control of our future and continuing to empower others! #ovaeggfreezing.”

The Bachelorette also used social media to discuss the major decision.

“I’m taking control of my future!” she tweeted in response to a fan question. “As a woman there’s always pressure to have babies, and this puts my mind at ease for when IM ready.”

For the record, freezing one’s eggs on average costs around $10K to $12K, with an additional expense of $800 per year to store the eggs. A financial commitment like this clearly came with a lot of consideration.

Her reasoning is a bit different than Carly’s, though.

Though the Bachelor in Paradise 3 star is also engaged — to fiancé Evan Bass — her choice to freeze her eggs had to do with a history of hormonal problems.

“Five years ago, they told me they didn’t think that I could have kids,” the 31-year-old explained on Instagram. “Now I don’t have to worry about that anymore and now I have the best backup plan in the entire world.”

We love this open dialogue about fertility — and it sounds like it was all thanks to Whitney Bischoff!

The fertility nurse appears to have been the one to get her Bachelor Nation friends involved with Ova Egg Freezing. She also thanked them afterwards for sharing their journeys.

“That's a wrap! Thanks to these ladies for believing in @ovaeggfreezing,” she gushed.

She also thanked Kaitlyn specifically, hinting that we’d learn more about the Nashville native’s experience going forward.

“Being a woman means taking control of your future,” Whitney captioned a pic with her pal.
