If you don’t know, now you know!

Keke Palmer is clapping back at internet critics over her “Queen of Kush” tattoo on social media.

After revealing the pretty impressive neck tatt on her Instagram account this past weekend, many bashed the 22-year-old actress, believing the wording was an underlying reference to marijuana.

Welp, it appears the commenters may have jumped the gun on this one. The Scream Queens star defended her choice in body art and it turns out the ink has quite an interesting background. Check out what she had to say below:

She explains, “The Kingdom of Kush or Kush was an ancient African Nubian kingdom situated on the confluences of the Blue Nile, White Nile and River Atbara. (1050/1070 B.C. - 350 A.D.) but at the height of its power in about 700 B.C. the Kingdom of Kush controlled the entirety of Egypt itself with Kushite Pharaohs ruling. What I love most is it’s [sic] history’s of female rulers!! In school, we very rarely ever learn about female rules [sic] and never about African rulers.”

It’s a history lesson many may not have been privy to, but thanks to “professor” Keke, you’re now updated.

Hey… sometimes you have to school your haters. #KekeTaughtMe
