Kristen Stewart Opens Up About Complicated Relationship With Robert Pattinson
Kristen Stewart is no longer afraid to be herself.
Just months after she called herself “so gay” on Saturday Night Live, the Twilight star is opening up about her complicated relationship with ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson and why she decided to come out.
"I wasn't hiding anything. I didn't talk about my first relationships that went public because I wanted things that are mine to be mine,” she told the Sunday Times.
“I hated it that details of my life were being turned into a commodity and peddled around the world.”
In fact, Kristen and Rob had millions of people obsessed with their relationship.
“But considering I had so many eyes on me, I suddenly realized [my private life] affects a greater number of people than just me,” she continued.
“It was an opportunity to surrender a bit of what was mine, to make even one other person feel good about themselves."
The 26-year-old also discussed why it was so difficult to date her co-star, especially due to the media frenzy surrounding their relationship.
"When I was dating Rob, the public were the enemy — and that is no way to live. It wasn't this grand statement, I was so confused! Now I've realized who I am! I have not been struggling."
The Snow White and the Huntsman star dated Robert for four years before they called it quits in July 2012.
Now the actress, who is currently dating Victoria’s Secret model Stella Maxwell, is happy to be living her truth.
"It just seemed important, and topical," she said when asked why she decided to come out.
