Lady Gaga’s Coachella Tribute to Friend With Cancer Will Make You Cry

Lady Gaga is making us emotional.

At Coachella on Saturday, the singer brought the audience to tears after she dedicated an acoustic performance of "Edge of Glory" to her friend, Sonja Durham, who is currently battling stage IV cancer.

The pop star, who was headlining her second weekend at Coachella 2017, introduced the performance with an emotional monologue on who Sonja is and why she's dedicating a song to her.

"My friend Sonja is very sick and I love her so much and if it's okay with you, I'd like to sing this song for her," she said.

The singer went on to deliver a raw, acoustic rendition of "Edge of Glory" with nothing but Gaga's powerhouse vocals and a piano.

In the middle of the song, Gaga, got choked up by her emotions and stopped to express how much Sonja means to her.

"I'm sorry you don't feel well," she said.

"We all wish you were here with us."

Can't wait for COACHELLA! Until then studio studio studio

Sonja, who used to work as Gaga's assistant, has been friends with the pop star for nearly a decade.

On her latest album, Joanne, Gaga dedicated the bonus track, "Grigio Girls," to their friendship.

In March, Gaga helped plan and attended Sonja's wedding to her now-husband, Andre Dubois. In a blog post, Sonja talked about how thankful she was to Gaga, who threw her friend's wedding after only two weeks.

"Now you can do that when you have amazingly talented event friends and an Angel that tell you she is going to throw you your dream wedding and there are no arguments," Sonja wrote about how she pulled off throwing a wedding in such a short period of time.

Still gotta make jokes when you're going on 7 days in the hospital!

On her blog, Sonja also refers to Gaga as her "guardian angel."

"Honestly, if it wasn't for Gaga and the financial contributions from everyone so far I really do not think I would be here," she continued.

"Let's just say I understand why people give up and die because they do not have the resources that I have been given."

Just another day at the office! Pigs and life size Gaga dolls!
