Maks Chmerkovskiy Opens Up About Being a New Dad: “I’m So Concerned”

Dancing is much easier than fatherhood for Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The Dancing With the Stars pro — who welcomed his son, Shai, in January with fiancée Peta Murgatroyd — is still learning what it takes to be a good father to his little boy.

“It’s not like anything I’ve felt before, but it’s also terrifying. I’m so concerned about doing the right thing!” he told In Touch.

“Everything has a residual effect. It’s not like I’m walking on eggshells, but I have to be responsible for my actions and my words.”

Though he’s still dedicated to dancing and his hit ABC competition show — on which he was partnered with Heather Morris for Season 24 — being a parent is most important.

“I now have a bigger purpose in life,” he continued.

“I will inevitably be happy as long as Shai and Peta are happy, but if they are not, I will never be happy.”

We know Shai and Peta love Maks, but there is also another person who can’t get enough of the hunky dancer — Bachelor Nick Viall!

The 36-year-old, who was partnered with Peta for Season 24, became close with Maks during this past season and the pair opened up about their “bromance” on the finale episode.

"I just really love Maks," Nick joked with Entertainment Tonight following the finale.

“These people here give me the opportunity to have some fun with some stuff and .... I mean, it was just a great experience and, you know, Maks is very good looking."

In fact, the Bachelor Nation star is planning on continuing his blossoming bromance with Maks, even though their season is over.

"Yeah, I mean, the only thing that could stop that is Peta's jealousy. I'll be honest, she sometimes gets in the way!"

Nick and Maks forever, right!?
