Mel B.’s Years of Abuse Ignored By Witnesses and Employers — Report
UPDATE (4/4/2017 at 1:15 p.m. ET):
There might be more than one person responsible for the years of abuse Mel B. allegedly suffered.
Though the former Spice Girls singer’s restraining order against estranged husband Stephen Belafonte is quite damning of him, it also claims there were witnesses who turned a blind eye to her cries for help.
The first, according to TMZ, was after Stephen allegedly punched the songstress in a fit of jealousy over her collaborating with Usher on X Factor Australia in 2012.
Apparently, the show’s producers noticed swelling in her face and called a physician, but the doc bought her story that it was an allergic reaction to shellfish.
Then, in 2014, she had to miss a taping of X Factor UK when she was so badly injured, theatrical makeup couldn’t hide her bruises. She did finally return, but no one reported her still-visible wounds.
It got really serious months later when the mother of three allegedly tried to commit suicide by swallowing a bottle of Aspirin, only to have a change of heart soon after.
She tried to call the police, but Stephen blocked her from doing so. He also blocked her friend Randy from entering to help, and turned away the ambulance the pal had called.
Still, she made it through and when the driver showed up to take her to work the next day, he rushed her to the hospital to attend to her injuries.
Though the hospital had security protecting her from her husband for two days, no police were ever called.
The America’s Got Talent star even claims to have approached her X Factor bosses about her suicide attempt, indicating her abusive relationship as the cause.
While they reportedly offered assistance to get her away from him, authorities were never involved and she returned home to him.
It’s baffling why so many people would overlook a pattern of visible abuse, though she does claim her movie producer spouse was able to intimidate her agents, producers and co-stars.

Original story (4/4/2017 at 8:30 a.m. ET):
More details have come to light about Mel B’s relationship with estranged husband Stephen Belafonte, and they’re hard to read.
The former Spice Girl filed a restraining order against Stephen on Monday, barring him from her and her three kids and removing him from the family home.
In the documents, obtained by TMZ, shocking details of her husband’s alleged actions over the past 10 years are revealed.
The 41-year-old first notes a number of instances where he allegedly abused her during her various performances and TV shows.
In November 2007, it was while getting ready for her Dancing With the Stars finale at their home. She says he choked her and slammed her into the hardwood floor — a move she maintains was so he could “let me know he was in charge” after her success.
Then, in July 2012, she claims Stephen flew into a jealous rage over her taping a X Factor segment with Usher, accusing her of sleeping with the singer and punching her in the face.
There was also an alleged incident the day after August 2012's London Olympics closing ceremonies, when she says he punched her, pushed her down on the carpet, and caused her face to be “scabbed over the rug burns.”
It’s not just physical violence she’s allegedly suffered at her spouse’s hands — the mother of three also accuses him of sexual exploitation.
She says she was forced to “participate in sexual intercourse with him and random women." He'd then supposedly secretly record the encounters, and later threaten to release the sex tapes if she didn’t cooperate.
He also is said to have gotten their nanny pregnant, forcing her to get an abortion and paying her $300K of Mel’s money for “nanny services.”
Emotional abuse was allegedly rampant in their marriage, with the singer’s husband telling her he’d “destroy my career and take my kids from me” if she left him.
This isn’t the first time the movie producer has dealt with domestic abuse claims — in fact, he's prohibited from carrying firearms due to a conviction involving another woman.
That apparently hasn’t stopped him, though, as his pop star wife says he has a magnum at home, a fact his brother corroborated last Friday.
Agents from the Dept. of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms served a search warrant on him after those claims, though she says he didn’t find a gun.
Stephen has since denied all allegations, saying he's "distraught" over his estranged wife's claims.
"I haven't heard these allegations," he starts to TMZ. "You know what my comment on this is, as this is the mother of my children? I'm really really distraught in my brain by how this is going to affect our children and the depths that she's gone to."
He continues, "I'm shocked at those allegations and that's what it is. I think someone's set me up to look like a bad guy. Obviously you saw my house got raided and nobody found anything. It's accusation after accusation."
"But we'll have our day in court," he conclues. "And we have children. if anyone knows our children, we have beautiful children. They're on social media. Why do this? We were friends two weeks ago. And now all of a sudden the team gets around and now it's got to be this."
