I Tried Microblading and Here’s How My Eyebrows Turned Out (PHOTOS)

I Tried Microblading and Here’s How My Eyebrows Turned Out (PHOTOS)

Beauty is usually in the eyes of the beholder, as long as that person’s eyebrow game is strong AF.

I’ve been so envious of superstar actresses like Cara Delevingne, Lily Collins, and Lucy Hale because, let’s be honest, I’ve been cursed with pretty weak brows.

Just when I lost all hope of ever having amazing brows, microblading entered my life.

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo that involves using a small blade to deposit pigment onto the skin.

This technique allows microblading artists to create fuller, thicker, and overall better looking brows that will look natural and last.

I went in for my appointment with Kendra Bray of Better Brows NYC excited, nervous, and a tad apprehensive, I’m not going to lie.

I do fine with pain — or so I thought — but the anticipation of pain is what really freaks me out. And, since I've never had a tattoo, I didn’t know what to expect.

Thankfully, once we got started with the appointment, Kendra immediately made me feel at ease and reiterated she wanted me to feel comfortable with what we’d be doing to my brows.

Because I had a good amount of eyebrow hair before the appointment — thanks for not letting me over-pluck, Mom! — Kendra and I decided it would be best to correct the shape of my brows and make them look a bit fuller.

Kendra started by drawing out my new shape and plucking any stray hairs around the area.

Once we agreed on the shape and style, Kendra put on a numbing cream and started the procedure!

I’m not going to lie to you, it hurt.

The only way I can compare the pain is like a sharp pencil cutting into your eyebrows. So yeah, it wasn’t pleasant, but it also wasn’t the worst pain I’ve ever experienced.

Beauty is pain, right?!

Despite the pain (which only lasted about 20 minutes, I might add), I love my brand new brows. Not only are they fuller and less patchy, they actually look symmetrical!

One major, major pro — I don’t have to wear or buy eyebrow makeup for a very long time.

This stuff lasts for one to three years, and because I don’t have super oily skin, mine should last closer to the three year mark.

I can’t tell you how lazy I am when it comes to doing makeup, so knowing my brows will always look good is exciting.

I wasn’t able to get my brows wet for one week following the procedure, which made showering and washing my face a tad difficult, and they itched like crazy for a few days. But I’m so happy with the results, it doesn’t even matter!

I have to go back to Kendra for a touch up in about four weeks, at which point she’ll assess my new brows and make any necessary changes.

Bottom line: if you want amazing brows and have around $700 to spare (which includes both appointments), I 100 percent recommend microblading.

The pain of the procedure is miniscule compared to the three years I’ll spend rocking flawless brows.

Watch out, Cara. I’m coming for ya!
