‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Does Negan Kill Daryl?
*Walking Dead comic book spoilers ahead*
Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus may be the most popular character on The Walking Dead, but Negan is the most popular character soon to be on The Walking Dead. Not that Negan is beloved, he's just dynamic. And maybe it shouldn't be a surprise that a lot of fans think the two characters will meet in a bad way at some point in the future.
Negan does not arrive in the comic until Issue 100, which is the point we're nearing on the TV series. In fact, it's widely believed the mega-villain will debut in the upcoming Season 6 finale. They could bring him in earlier, but they don't need to and there's a lot of ground that they may want to lay down first.

When Negan does first appear in Issue 100, he punishes Rick Grimes's group for taking on The Saviors by choosing someone in the group to bash with his baseball bat, named Lucille.
He chooses Glenn Rhee.
Glenn has a bloody death right then and there, and his death leads Maggie Greene — who was pregnant at the time — on an interesting journey of her own. In the current comic book storyline, she's the leader of Hilltop, and it's arguable that she never would've had that journey without losing Glenn. Not that it's a good thing, but it led her there.
However, some fans think the TV show may remix that by giving Glenn's death to Daryl Dixon. It's not out of the question for a major, memorable death to be transferred — Tyreese didn't get Tyreese'd on TV, Hershel Greene did. And Dale's "tainted meat" death went to Bob Stookey.

So maybe they will give Glenn's death to someone else, but do you think it will be Daryl? And what would that mean for Glenn's storyline? And how would that change things for Maggie? Would Carol Peletier take on that leadership aspect and run Hilltop?
Part of why this could go either way is all the heavy Glenn-baseball-bat hints Season 5 gave us. There was that near-bashing in Terminus, then Glenn with a bat (and Noah's bashed-in mom) in Richmond. That had some fans thinking they were setting up Glenn's death, maybe even by Negan in Season 5.
More recently, many fans think it was foreshadowing when, after Glenn killed the Saviors, he took note of the photos on the wall of other people who'd had their heads bashed in. But that's probably what they want you to think.

Robert Kirkman himself — the biggest troll in town when it comes to misleading fans — even mentioned Glenn's death by Negan during @midnight's fake Season 5 spoilers round. So was he saying that because it won't happen, or because it just won't happen this season?
Some fans who don't think Negan will give Daryl the Glenn treatment instead think he could be the new Dwight. That's not too likely either, since there's probably someone out there who will be a perfectly good Dwight. If we can have Aaron, Eric, Jessie, Pete, Gabriel, etc., arrive in close versions to themselves on TV, we don't need to be treating Dwight like he can just be absorbed into Daryl's role.

There's also the idea that none of this may have been decided yet, even by Kirkman and Scott Gimple. They may want to stick to the Glenn/Negan death because it's so iconic and opens so many new doors, or they may go a different way. Who knows?!
The Walking Dead Season 6 airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
