Nick Viall’s Engagement Ring For Vanessa Was Used on ‘Bachelor’ Before

There’s no arguing Vanessa Grimaldi’s engagement ring from Nick Viall is beautiful, but did anyone else feel like it was vaguely familiar?

That’s probably because you have seen it before the Bachelor 2017 proposal, and you’ll never believe where.

As jeweler Neil Lane noted when the Bachelor was making his pick for his future fiancée, the 3.75-carat round-cut diamond is one of the biggest in franchise history.

Not only is the center stone a showstopper, but it’s also surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds, two larger baguettes, and a total of 164 round-cut stones. Dayum — though size isn’t the reason Nick chose it.

“I just closed my eyes and just envisioned her beautiful face,” the 36-year-old tells People. “I knew immediately which one was perfect for her.”

Vanessa did appreciate the size though — calling it “big like my personality.”

However, before it was “perfect” for the Canadian beauty, it was perfect for another Bachelorette…

Keen-eyed blogger Claudia Oshry, aka Girl With No Job, realized the sparkler had been used before in the Bachelor franchise — during JoJo Fletcher’s Bachelorette 2016 finale!

Claudia pointed out that the rock is eerily similar to the one runner-up Robby Hayes chose for the Dallas gal last May, though he was turned down (in favor of Jordan Rodgers) before he was able to give it to her.

But wait, we wondered, is it the exact same ring?

Yes, actually! People confirmed its origin with Neil Lane himself, who reveals this is hardly a new thing for the show.

“I bring six rings and over the years, over the 9 years, some are the same, some have changed settings or are re-designed, and some are totally new,” the celebrity designer explains.

Wait, what?! Mind blown! And that’s not all.

He continues, “The most important thing is for a ring to speak to the particular man and to the woman he is in love with. If a ring doesn’t speak to one person, then it wasn’t meant to be.

Holy shit she said yes!! . It's been a journey Bachelor Nation!! @vanessagrimaldi30 I love you!! #thebachelor

“If that particular ring wasn’t meant to find a home with JoJo, but rather spoke to Nick and Vanessa, then that’s the way it should be. It’s found its home.”

Actually, he has a point.

Though the jury is still out on the future of the newly-engaged Season 21 couple, the ring is definitely getting more use with these two than JoJo, who never actually saw it.

We think she’s quite happy with the one she did receive from fiancé Jordan...

The stunning 3-carat oval-shaped diamond with a band encrusted with over 155 smaller round diamonds is certainly breathtaking.

Look at that stunner! Good job, Jordan. #TheBachelorette

Even Neil points out its “elegant simplicity,” which we think is more suited for the stylish gal. Good on both of you guys!
