JoJo Fletcher on Nick and Vanessa’s Relationship, ‘DWTS’ Sexism Claims

Remember all those rumors surrounding Nick Viall and JoJo Fletcher months back?

Those turned out to be just that — rumors. However, the Bachelorette is friends with the Bachelor 2017 star, and she’s weighing in on his relationship with fiancée Vanessa Grimaldi!

In a new interview with Us Weekly, the brunette beauty first gives an update on her engagement to Jordan Rodgers, gushing that they have “the best relationship” one year after meeting.

“We always knew it was going to work out and I think most people were like, ‘It’s not going to work,’ so it’s pretty nice [to be able to prove people wrong],” the 26-year-old admits.

Because of that, she can certainly relate to successor Nick as he deals with the post-season doubts about his own romance with final pick Vanessa.

“Him being on Dancing With the Stars, people always question if that will break his relationship up,” she starts.

The Dallas gal continues, “In my mind, if you’re meant to be with this person, if you have that strong foundation, that shouldn’t be the reason why you split. I think if you’re able to make it work through any circumstance, you’re good.”

For the record, she thinks the couple has “a great relationship.”

“I’m friends with Nick, so I’ve known him for a bit,” she explains. “But I met Vanessa last week ... She seems great.

“They seem like they have a great relationship and that she’s really supporting him through this whole thing.”

Speaking of DWTS

JoJo was also asked this week about the recent feud between Kaitlyn Bristowe and Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss. You know, where Kait alleged Mike blocked female franchise stars from doing DWTS after the show?

“Yeah, I would have,”JoJo tells Refinery29 about if she would’ve competed for the Mirror Ball. “But some contractual things kinda got in the way.”

While producers claim they discouraged stars from doing the show because it has the potential to ruin their relationship, the future Mrs. Rodgers isn’t really buying it.

“If it's a decision that [the Bachelorette is] making and their partner supports it, then let them do it,” she reasons. “If your relationship is strong, it's gonna last no matter what.”

Whether or not there is a bias for male Bachelor stars, the former real estate developer is hoping this discussion will lead to changes in the future.

“I will say, I hope that now that it's come to light that the Bachelorettes haven't really had the opportunity before [to appear on DWTS] that [the situation] it changes,” she concludes.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
