Regis Philbin: “Offended” Kelly Ripa Stopped Talking to Me After ‘Live’ Exit

Kelly Ripa does not take her co-host’s exits well.

While we all know about the bubbly blonde’s Michael Strahan drama, Kelly’s first co-host Regis Philbin is now spilling all about their feud, which erupted once his own time at Live was over.

The 85-year-old’s tea-spilling session began from an unlikely source: Larry King.

The longtime TV journalist asked Regis if he’s kept in touch with Kelly, 46, since leaving their morning show, and the former ABC star gave an unexpected response.

"She got very offended when I left,” Regis revealed on Tuesday, February 14, of his 2011 exit after 10 years hosting with the All My Children alum.

“She thought I was leaving because of her."

Despite Kelly’s supposed assumption, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“I was leaving because I was getting older, and it wasn't right for me anymore," the TV vet admitted.

While Regis’s decision makes tons of sense, it irrevocably ruined his relationship with his former right hand woman and their show.

When asked if he’s kept in touch with Kelly, the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire favorite said, "Not really, no.”

That’s no surprise considering the major way Live has snubbed its former star for years.

"Never once did they ask me to go back," he added, six years after originally leaving his daytime chair.

If this all sounds familiar, that’s because a very similar hullaballoo went down when Michael Strahan left Live for a Good Morning America gig.

“The most disappointing thing to me was that I was painted as the bad guy, because I value the way I carry myself,” the former NFL star told People in September 2016, months after his tumultuous exit.

“I don’t want people to see me as ‘Oh, he just ran out, just left them there.’ That’s just not true.”

Hopefully Kelly’s third — and still unannounced  — Live partner will have a more graceful exit.
