Robert Carradine Claims His Wife Is To Blame For Their Car Crash (UPDATE)

UPDATE (5/6/2017 at 4:39 p.m. ET): After his wife claimed Robert Carradine intentionally caused their car to crash two years ago, Robert Carradine now claims his wife is really to blame for the accident because she allegedly "cut off" the medication he was on for his bipolar disorder.

He admitted he was in a psychotic state when he got behind the wheel of his vehicle and ploughed head first into a semi-truck, which almost killed him and his spouse, in 2015 but that was only because Edith – who he married in 1990 – had taken him off his medication which, ultimately, led to him experiencing psychosis.

In the court documents Robert filed, obtained by TMZ, he claims he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder shortly after his brother David's tragic death in 2009, a slightly different story from the one his wife told in her own court documents.

The pair's bitter divorce is still ongoing and it doesn't look like the end is in sight any time soon as Robert has claimed his estranged spouse blew the $70,000 they pulled in after they agreed to make an appearance on Celebrity Wife Swap.

Robert has attempted to settle the divorce but, according to the gossip site, Edith refused to sign because they are currently disputing the sale of his gun collection.

She doesn't believe he should continue to have possession of the firearms and wants to sell them.

Read on below to get Edith's side of the story.

Original story (5/5/2017 at 11:20 a.m. ET): Once you hear the murder-suicide accusations Edith Carradine just leveled at her famous husband, Robert, you’ll never watch Lizzie McGuire the same way again.

Edith claims her estranged spouse, who played Hilary Duff’s father on the Disney Channel sitcom, tried to kill them both in a gnarly car crash.

Robert suffered severe injuries in the March 2015 crash, when he collided head-on with a semi truck on a Colorado highway. Cops said he wasn’t under the influence of drugs or alcohol and cited him for careless driving.

Edith was a passenger in the car, and she too was injured.

Now Edith — who goes by Edie Mani — has filed legal documents saying he crashed into the truck intentionally.

In the documents, obtained by TMZ, she says she confronted Robert about the wreck… and then he allegedly came clean.

“[He] confessed to me and our two children that he deliberately drove into the truck to kill us both,” she wrote.

In fact, Robert is an “experienced professional race car driver” who was wide awake when he veered into the path of the semi, Edith says.

Why? Because he’s been depressed since half-brother David’s death via auto-erotic asphyxiation in 2009, Edith claims. She even says he has 17 guns, which she wants to confiscate.

Furthermore, Edith wants money from her husband. She says she’s unemployed, broke, and in debt to the tune of $14K to her attorneys.

She already has possession of some of his guitars and wants the rest, because the collection’s worth is in the high four digits.

Robert comes from a famous family of actors — he’s the brother of Madam Secretary actor Keith Carradine, half-brother of late Kill Bill star David Carradine, father of The Handmaid’s Tale actress Ever Carradine, and uncle of The Real O’Neals star Martha Plimpton.

You may also recognize the 63-year-old from his role as Lewis Skolnick in all four Revenge of the Nerds movies.

The couple has been married since 1990 and they have two kids together: 27-year-old Marika Reed and 24-year-old Ian Alexander.
