Slade Smiley Is Completely Unrecognizable in Texas Rising Role (PHOTO)
Who is that handsome man donning a classic look from the Wild Wild West? Believe it or not, it's former Real Housewives of Orange County star Gretchen Rossi's fiancé, Slade Smiley, sporting long hair and a glorious salt and pepper beard for a role in a brand new mini-series!
Slade recently tweeted a photo of himself on the set of Texas Rising, an upcoming series for the History Channel that tells the story of how the Texas Rangers were created. Take a look:
We have to admit, we hardly recongized him with all of the facial hair and without his usual 21st century attire. Oh, the magic of Hollywood!
“Housewives gave us a platform so that people know who we are,” Slade told The Real Mr. Housewife. “We’ve had an opportunity to meet really great producers, directors, and casting people… Housewives gave us… exposure. It really has been great to have been part of it but we’re very excited to be moving on.”
While we'll definitely miss seeing what Slade and Gretchen are up to on RHOC, we're equally pumped to catch Slade's newest project, which he stars in alongside the likes of Bill Paxton and Branden Fraser. It's not the first TV series Slade has appeared in, and we're sure it won't be the last, even though he insists that his role is "extremely small."
"Texas Rising is about the establishment of the Texas Rangers. It’s about the fall of the Alamo," he said. "Texas was a volatile state at that point. I’m just one of the people that end up greeting him as he returns back to town."
We can't wait to see it and his full on-screen transformation to Wild West cowboy!
