‘Teen Wolf’ Finally Reveals Stiles’s First Name and You Definitely Didn’t Guess It

If you didn’t know Teen Wolf is in its final season, this week’s episode would have majorly tipped you off.

The Tuesday, January 17, episode revealed the long-running MTV drama’s biggest secret: what exactly is Stiles’s first name?

And it’s something no one expected.

The exciting moment capped off the bleak “Blitzkrieg,” where far too many members of Scott McCall’s pack were erased from reality by the Ghost Riders.

Thankfully, creator Jeff Davis decided to improve Season 6 Episode 8’s bummed-out vibe by letting Dylan O’Brien’s TV dad remember his son and therefore spill his lengthy moniker.

Stiles’s dad Sheriff Stilinski recalls his forgotten child’s existence in the worst way possible: accepting his wife is still dead and he’s been living with her figment since their son was taken by the Ghost Riders.

Lyden Ashby’s character follows up that awful realization by running to Team Scott Headquarters and announcing his son’s name.

“I have a son. His name is Mieczyslaw Stilinski,” Sheriff Stilinski tells Scott, Lydia, Malia, and Liam, who are now the only other people left in Beacon Hills.

The tearful dad’s explanation of Stiles’s real moniker is perfect.

Stiles’s parents called him “Mischief” as a kid since he couldn’t pronounce his Scrabble-tiles-thrown-at-a-wall name.

Executive producer Jeff confirms this has been his intention for years.

“A few years ago, I knew I would have to actually reveal Stiles’s name at some point,” the writer tells Entertainment Weekly.

"I was looking for a Polish name that was incredibly difficult to both spell and pronounce.”

That’s where Mieczyslaw comes in.

“Mieczyslaw sounded like ‘mischief,’” Jeff continued.

“It seemed like a perfect word to describe Stiles — both as a mischievous child and equally misbehaved adult."
