‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Alum T.R. Knight to Recur in ‘The Catch’ Season 2
The Emmy-nominated actor will play a recurring role in the second season of The Catch, a show executive-produced by his old boss, Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes.
Showrunner Allan Heinberg tells TVLine this mystery role was “created and written especially” for T.R.
“This has been a thrilling secret to keep!” Shonda says in a statement. “One of my favorite family members is home!”
The 43-year-old actor seemed just as enthusiastic in his statement. “Working with Shonda, [Shondaland’s] Betsy [Beers], and Allan again fills me with immense joy,” he says. “I am heartened to be returning to Shondaland and excited to work with this exceptional cast.”
T.R. certainly didn’t speak so highly of Shonda when he left his role as George O'Malley at the end of Grey’s Anatomy’s fifth season, citing a “breakdown of communication” with the uber-producer.
“My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about George],” he told Entertainment Weekly at the time. “And with respect, I'm going to leave it at that.”
The Catch returns to ABC in 2017.
