Cast of ‘The Real Side Chicks of Charlotte’ Speak on Controversial New Series
Clearly modeled after the Real Housewives franchise, The Real Side Chicks of Charlotte was rumored to be nothing more than a clever logo thought up by a fan.
It appears, however, that the meme thought to be a funny take on the series stems from a real show about women who proudly date taken men.
The creator of the show, a rapper and producer, admits it all started off as a promotional idea for his music.
After seeing the reaction, he decided to produce an actual series, according to TheJasmineBrand.
One cast member explains how she feels about being labeled a side chick, saying if two women are being treated equally by a man, the label doesn’t matter.
“You might look at it as a side chick, but I look at it as a main chick as well because I’m getting the same treatment as you.
“If I’m getting the same treatment, it’s not really the same qualifications of a side chick because you just don’t like that he’s ‘our’ man.”
A fellow cast member believes “main chicks” only have themselves to blame if they can’t keep their men satisfied.
“At the end of the day, are you doing what you’re supposed to be doing for your man? Are you doing what you’re supposed to be doing to keep him?”
The series is already causing some major buzz, as even Rihanna was in disbelief at the premise while promising to tune in if the series is picked up.
