‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7: Who Will Survive & Who Will Die?
All of the worry came about because Ian Somerhalder hinted that the April 1 installment he directed — Episode 16, titled “Days of Future Past” — will feature some painful losses.
“This one was really about telling the story of this whole group of individuals and how they’re all intersecting,” the 37-year-old told TV Guide.
“And we lost some very wonderful, very beautiful characters in this episode,” he continued. “It was about tugging on the heartstrings of the audience and really allowing them to feel these characters.”
Let’s take this character by character and speculate if we’ll see them next season and, if not, when we’ll see the last of them this go ‘round:
Given the fact that Ian basically confirmed he’ll be back for Season 8, he’s not going anywhere. There’s been a lot of teasing in terms of Damon Salvatore’s fate this season but it’s all talk and no action — so this one would throw us for a loop.
Stefan Salvatore is safe — we’d bet our lives on it. The show has already lost one lead; it won’t lose another. Plus, Julie Plec said Season 8 hinged on whether or not Paul Wesley and Ian wanted to return and, since it’s been renewed, hero hair is here to stay.
If this show wants to really make a splash, killing Caroline Forbes would be the way to go. But she’s a beloved character and has been deemed the bedrock of the series, so we don’t think that’ll happen plus we’d hate to lose this Mystic Falls beauty.
If this show ever loses Bonnie Bennett, it would be a travesty worthy of a revolt. Granted, we doubt she’ll ever die (before the show’s end) especially since her life is tied to Elena Gilbert’s and Nina Dobrev isn’t returning anytime soon.
It would be super tragic to kill off Alaric Saltzman (again) especially since he’s now a father to twins. Plus, he’s engaged to marry Caroline so perhaps he’ll finally get a happy ending.
Lorenzo “Enzo” St. John
We would certainly hate to lose Enzo but, given his relationship with Bonnie, we think he’s a likely candidate to die. After all, homegirl has the worst luck with boyfriends.
We’ve always been told Matt Donovan won’t be killed off, but he’s turning his back on his supernatural friends and that could be the end of him. On the other hand, keeping him around as an enemy for next season would be awesome.
This newcomer’s romantic ties to Stefan are the only thing that could save her from being a one-season wonder. Valerie is the only Heretic who stands a chance.
Nora Hildegard & Mary Louise
This couple’s days are numbered. In fact, we doubt Nora and Mary Louise will survive the April 1 episode.
We seriously doubt this season’s big bad huntress will make it. In lieu of dying in the Season 7 finale, we predict Rayna will meet her end in the episode before it.
The Vampire Diaries Season 7 airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
