‘The Voice’: Zach Seabaugh Has “Superman’s Voice” at Age 16
He may not remember the ‘90s, but Zach Seabaugh has the voice of a seasoned country star — and he proved it with his blind audition on The Voice last night.
The 16-year-old from Marietta, Georgia, blew the Season 9 judges away with his soulful rendition of Sam Hunt’s country hit “Take Your Time.”
Pharrell and Adam Levine were the first to turn around their chairs for the teen — and Adam Levine also hit the “I Want You” button just in the nick of time.
At the end of his performance, Zach shocked the pros by announcing he is just 16 years old.
“No way!” Gwen Stefani exclaimed. “16 is ridiculous! You look like a man.”
“Zach, first I have a question, and it’s a very genuine question, and I would appreciate a very honest answer,” Adam said. “Are… you… Superman?”
The crowd erupted in laughter, and the Maroon 5 frontman continued lavishing on the praise: “Because you look like Superman, and that’s not a 16-year-old’s voice, it’s Superman’s voice. Your voice is seasoned and deeper than mine has ever been at any point.”
Zach was just as much a hit with America as he was with the judges — as of the time of this post, his version of “Take Your Time” is #59 on iTunes’s Country Chart.
With such a gift for country-fried crooning, it won’t surprise you to learn Zach joined Team Blake. We’ll be rooting for him as this season of The Voice progresses!
