T.R. Knight Cast in Divorce Law Drama Pilot For ABC

Head’s up, Grey's Anatomy fans! T.R. Knight is coming back to ABC, nine years after abruptly leaving the hit medical drama. But he’ll be nowhere near Shondaland.

Instead, the 42-year-old actor will star in a yet-untitled divorce law-themed drama from Meaghan Oppenheimer, the co-writer of last year’s Zac Efron film We Are Your Friends.

TVLine reports this potential new show “centers on Gemma, a ruthless Dallas divorce attorney whose life begins to unravel when her emotionally damaged, love-addicted sister resurfaces.”

The Grey’s alum will play Mark, Gemma’s two-faced rival at work.

“Outside he is jolly and likable, the kind of guy who will come to your kid’s christening without being invited,” TVLine explains. “His jolliness is entirely an act though. Despite his seemingly jovial, oblivious nature, he is actually incredibly calculating. A backstabber you don’t see coming.”

(Sounds like a far cry from good ol’ George O'Malley.)

Though this is T.R.’s first return to ABC since he got out of his contract at the end of Grey’s Anatomy Season 5, he’s been on TV elsewhere. The Emmy nominee has guest-starred on Law & Order and The Good Wife, and you can currently catch him alongside James Franco in Hulu’s 11.22.63.

Since there’s no way George can come back to Grey’s, we’re glad to see T.R. somewhere on our small screen. Now we just have to cross our fingers in hopes ABC will decide to air the show.
