Tyler Blackburn (Caleb Rivers) just landed the lead male role in an upcoming indie film, and it sounds awesome. The Pretty Little Liars actor will be playing opposite Emily Osment (Young & Hungry) in Love Is All You Need. Check out the compelling premise.

The film will tell the story of a boy and a girl who fall in love in a world where homosexuality is considered the status quo. When their heterosexual relationship goes public, the young lovers find themselves the target of bullying and ridicule. Interesting, right? The film will be directed by Kim Rocco Shields, who also directed the 2011 award-winning short film of the same name from which the feature will be based.

We’re very excited to see Tyler land not only a lead role in a project outside of Pretty Little Liars, but one with such an interesting take on the world. Both the short and feature versions of the story are designed to represent the challenges faced by LGBTQ youth, and we’re eager to see how the inverse structure will work. We’re also eager to see Tyler in a starring role. Though he has his moments on Pretty Little Liars, and he had a brief chance to lead a cast on Ravenswood, Tyler has yet to be given a great lead role to play. We think Love Is All You Need could be that role.

Do you think the film sounds interesting? Are you as excited as we are to see Tyler in a leading role? Sound off in the comments below!

The PLL Christmas episode airs Tuesday, December 9 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
