Could ‘PLL’ Star Tyler Blackburn Be Joining the Cast of ‘Riverdale’?

As Caleb Rivers on Pretty Little Liars, Tyler Blackburn has moved from Rosewood to Ravenswood and back.

But rumor has it the 30-year-old actor is moving to another "R" town soon: CW's Riverdale.

Whether it sprung out of wishful thinking/dream casting or an actual casting director's brain, the internet is buzzing with speculation Tyler will be joining the dark reimagining of the Archie comics for its sophomore season.

And after seeing who he'd be playing, we are completely here for it. The problem is... it's probably not true.

At least not yet.

We can't figure out the origin of the rumor — hat-tip to The Bitbag, though! — which is why we think this is a case of fans dream casting.

However, if it's based in reality, Tyler would be playing Chic Cooper, Betty's older brother.

In the comics, Chic is blond like his fellow Coopers, which is a tough look to picture on the olive-complected, dark-haired actor.

However, in this version of The Town With Pep, Chic is quite possibly the product of a high school affair between Alice Cooper (Madchen Amick) and F.P. Jones, played by Skeet Ulrich.

Now there's a family resemblance we can see. And for drama, we kind of love how this would add to the incestuousness of Riverdale.

Toward the end of Season 1, we learned Betty gave a son up for adoption, a son Hal wanted her to abort. Could that be because he wasn't the father?

Just as Jason Blossom and Polly Cooper's union was a bit, um, problematic, it would definitely make it weird if Jughead and Betty had a mutual half-sibling.

Even if Tyler doesn't turn out to be playing Alice's long-lost son, there are plenty of possibilities for him to join the universe, which is now expanding to include the rival Central High.

With Jughead's move to the South Side (and his adoption by the South Side Serpents), we can definitely imagine Tyler playing someone from "the wrong side of the tracks."

In fact, a second casting rumor concerning the PLL alum says just that.

According to an equally unverifiable internet rumor, Tyler may play "Justin" the BMOC at Central — and perhaps affiliated with the infamous gang that took in F.P.s namesake.

Again, this is all conjecture as far as we're concerned, much like when there were rumors Dove Cameron would be joining to play Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

But series EP Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is definitely paying attention to what people on Twitter have to say about this universe, so it can only help our cause to fuel the rumor mill.

Be the genius casting decision you wish to see in the world
