Sybil Is Back and Ruining Miss Mystic Falls Memories on ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Last we saw the Siren Sybil, Damon seemingly killed her after Caroline gave him Elena’s necklace as a Christmas gift.

But The Vampire Diaries Season 8 spoilers are here to interrupt your happy dance because Sybil is definitely not done tormenting Damon yet.

Sorry, but it gets worse. Sybil is back (at the very least, in Damon’s head) and she is here to ruin one of the best, most romantic Delena moments in the history of the show: The Miss Mystic Falls dance.

You remember: Damon saves Elena from embarrassment by stepping in for the missing Stefan as her date and they have serious sparks while dancing. It was basically Step One of #DelenaEndgame.

However, it seems Sybil is up to her favorite trick: Substituting herself for Elena in Damon’s memories.

Ugh, no — not this one!

Just look at this picture from The Vampire Diaries Season 8, Episode 9.

Sybil Miss Mystic Falls

The blue dress! The staircase! The twinkle lights! It’s definitely Miss Mystic Falls.

Bonnie and Caroline are there, too. They, however, are wearing different dresses from the original Miss Mystic Falls episode.

So, is this just memory, or is Sybil legitimately alive and somehow invited to one of the town’s biggest events?

Oh, and Stefan is there, too.

Damon and Stefan Miss Mystic Falls

This is definitely an entirely new Miss Mystic Falls event, but still, clearly Sybil is trying to channel Elena, probably to mess with Damon.

But, um… can Ripper Stefan be trusted in eveningwear? What is going on here?

The episode’s official synopsis helps us understand.

“Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) return to Mystic Falls at Sybil’s (guest star Nathalie Kelley) request as she is still in search of the historical artifact... Stefan, Damon, Caroline, Bonnie and Enzo all attend the Miss Mystic Falls pageant where Sybil continues to taunt Damon with memories of Elena.”

Two humanity-off vampires + the devil + Sybil + a glamorous event = disaster, most likely.

There is some good news from this episode, though: Bonnie and Enzo return from Paris, happier than ever.

And that new “necklace” she’s looking at? It’s a vial of Enzo’s blood.

It could mean Bonnie wants to keep it to save her in case of injury, but um, it could also mean that our favorite witch is contemplating becoming a vampire to be with her true love for an eternity.

Ah, the things Mystic Falls residents do for love.

The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
