‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Daryl/Negan Theory Debunked!

Daryl Dixon lives! For now, at least.

The Walking Dead fandom was in a tizzy earlier this week when a theory involving the midseason premiere scene, where Daryl kills the Saviors with an RPG, had viewers worried Negan might kill the fan-favorite character as an act of revenge.

One very alert watcher saw a car in the background of that scene and theorized Negan might be in the vehicle watching events unfold from afar.

If that was the case then, you could see how Negan might want to kill Daryl after he murdered several of his own people.

Thankfully, actor Christopher Berry — AKA the lead Savior — isn’t certain the car in question was there for any particular reason.

When asked during a Reddit AMA if the placement of the car was an error or a preview of things to come, Christopher said, “I read something about that earlier today. To be honest I have no clue.”

Sure, it’s not exactly the winning endorsement we were hoping for, but at least Chris isn’t adding any fuel to the fire.

Since Negan’s arrival has been hyped so much we’re expecting his first on-screen appearance to entail more than just chilling in a car that’s practically off camera, but showrunner Scott Gimple does like to plant seeds here and there so you never know!

The Walking Dead Season 6 airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
