‘Walking Dead’ Season 6: What Happens to Glenn Rhee in the Comics?
Warning: If you’re averse to spoilers from The Walking Dead comics then stop reading right now. Really, we mean it!
As TWD comic book readers are well aware, Glenn Rhee, played by actor Steven Yeun on the small screen, dies in the comics at the hands of super-villain Negan. We haven’t met Negan on TV yet, but given a casting notice which could be describing the hated character popped up recently, we know his arrival is around the corner.

In Robert Kirkman’s source material (AKA the comics), things start to go south for Glenn after the group arrives at the Alexandria Safe Zone (which happened in Season 5) and he takes a position as a supply runner.
On a mission to a place called the Hilltop Colony — which we will be seeing in Season 6 — Glenn decides he likes it more than Alexandria and returns to tell Maggie Greene, aka Lauren Cohan, who reveals she’s pregnant. This solidifies Glenn’s desire to relocate to Hilltop because he believes it’s safer there.

Unfortunately, there's a group called The Saviors (AKA Negan’s pose) who sometimes protect but also terrify Hilltop. During a trip from Hilltop to the Safe Zone, Rick Grimes’s group is ambushed by Saviors and Rick sends the only survivor back to Negan, with a warning to leave the people of Hilltop alone.
The Saviors retaliate, which is terrible news for Glenn. Negan and a group of Saviors ambush Rick's group (including Glenn) once more and the notorious baddie decides to punish the group for killing so many Saviors, so he brutally beats Glenn to death with his barbed-wire-covered baseball bat, which he named "Lucille." Way harsh, Negan!

Now, before you get bent out of shape, we should remind you TWD showrunner Scott Gimple likes to “remix” storylines from RK’s comics, so there’s a chance TV Glenn won’t meet this grizzly fate afterall.
There was some buzz a while back that Norman Reedus’s Daryl Dixon might die in Glenn’s place, but there doesn’t seem to be any validity to those rumors. We do however know these poor saps will die in an unrelated event in the Season 6 midseason finale.
NEWS: New Promo, Comic Books Locations Coming in The Walking Dead Season 6
If The Powers That Be have decided TV Glenn should meet his comic book counterpart’s fate we’re sure they have good reason, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be super bummed about it, especially as far as Maggie is concerned because she’s already been through so much.
The Walking Dead Season 6 premieres with a 90-minute episode on October 11 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
