‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Midseason Finale: Will Carl Lose His Eye?
Carl Grimes got really lucky in Season 6, Episode 7 of The Walking Dead when the tower fell just as Ron was seemingly about to shoot him. But that doesn’t mean Carl (or more specifically, his eye) is safe as we approach the midseason finale!
Jessie’s eldest son asked Rick Grimes to teach him how to use a gun, and after his first lesson he snuck into the munitions room and stole some bullets, only to find Carl and follow behind him like a weirdo.
Like we said, the tower tumbled just in time (for Carl’s sake, at least) but this is hardly the end of Ron’s beef with Rick’s son.

The teens previously argued about Enid, and we don’t think for one second that Ron just forgot Carl’s dad was the one who shot his father, Pete, in Season 5.
In Robert Kirkman’s comics on which TWD is based, Carl loses an eye after he’s accidentally shot by the head of Alexandria (a character named Douglas in the books), but we think the show is primed to “remix” that storyline a bit.
We’ve already established Ron has it out for Carl, and based on what we know about the Season 6 midseason finale, the angsty teen plays a major role in the loss of Carl’s eye on the small screen.

As the horde streams into Alexandria through the break in the wall, Rick, Michonne, Father Gabriel, Carl, Jessie, and Sam and Ron all find themselves trapped inside one of the houses In order to escape, they cover themselves in walker guts and start walking through the herd on the streets while holding hands.
Sam is grabbed by walkers and gets eaten, which causes Jessie to attempt to save him even though it is a lost cause. She refuses to let go of Carl's hand while doing so and as she starts falling into a throng of walkers, Rick chops off her hand/arm and she dies.

Ron attempts to retaliate by aiming his gun to shoot Rick, but Carl notices and jumps in the crossfire in an effort to save his dad. He gets shot in the eye in the process.
That’s a rough was to lose an eye, but we’re kinda looking forward to watching it all go down this Sunday because it’s much more interesting than what happened in the comics. Sorry, Carl!
The Walking Dead Season 6 midseason finale airs Sunday, November 29, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
