‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6: Has Morgan Ruined Carol?

In recent episodes of The Walking Dead we’ve watched Carol Peletier struggle with what she’s done in her past in order to stay alive, and she’s even begun writing down a list of all the people she’s killed.

In Season 6,  Episode 13: “The Same Boat,” Carol shot a Savior named Donny in the arm just before she and Maggie Greene were captured by a larger group, and she later admitted she could’ve killed him on first try, but chose not to.

Carol still kills when she has to — she finished off Paula and set those other Saviors on fire — but is clear she’s not as eager to be as ruthless as she once was. Could Morgan Jones’s “all life is precious” attitude be rubbing off on our girl?

When asked if Morgan’s argument is getting to Carol, Melissa tells E! News, “I think this whole episode, for Carol anyway, is about that struggle with maybe there's something right about what he's saying because, you know, looking at her list and thinking about all those situations when she's had to kill someone, I imagine she's thinking about that, when she doesn't have to think.”

Now, thanks to Morgan challenging her point of view, Carol is being forced to examine everything she’s done up until this point.

“She's carried the weight of it with her this whole time. This isn't a revelation; it's just pulling to the surface what she has deliberately pushed away in order to be able to continue to do what she needs to do,” the 50-year-old explains to The Hollywood Reporter

“Keeping that list and count and thinking of every circumstance that's happened — that she even remembers is very telling,” Melissa adds. “She's carried it with her and now it's like that stuff that boils up to the top: now she has to look at it.”

We really hope Morgan doesn’t succeed in making Carol any softer (especially with Negan on his way!), but stranger things have happened on this show!

The Walking Dead Season 6 airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
