Walking Dead Season 6: See First Look at TWD Character Heath
While we’ve been getting plenty of Fear the Walking Dead updates as of late, things have been pretty quiet on The Walking Dead front — until now!
We first heard that Heath, a character straight out of Robert Kirkman’s TWD comic books, might be joining the show’s sixth season after a casting notice seemingly describing that character was leaked and an actor matching Heath’s description was spotted on set at the beginning of the month. But nothing was certain until the Powers That Be confirmed that actor Corey Hawkins had been cast as Heath just a few weeks ago.
Now, as we head into July, we can do you one better and share the first look at Heath via AMCTV.com. Like his comic book counterpart, TV Heath is rocking long hair and glasses. TV Heath is also black, just as the character from the comics. Since many people made a point of the fact that the show killed off two black characters in Season 5, we’re glad to see producers are making a continued effort to keep the cast as diverse as possible.
What do we know about Heath, you ask? In the comics he actually met Rick and company before they got to Alexandria. Heath is a supply runner in the comic, and he and his best friend Scott got in trouble on a supply run and Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company jumped in to help. Scott later died from his wounds and Glenn ended up replacing him, with Heath and Glenn as the new supply run team.
Heath is still alive in the comics, but his girlfriend Denise dies after getting bit on the arm. Instead of amputating her arm, Denise keeps it in order to save Heath, who eventually has his leg blown off by a grenade. Denise passes away from the fever of her bite, with Heath by her side, but since he’s unable to put her down, Michonne (Danai Gurira) must do it for him.
We’re ready to meet your acquaintance, Heath!
The Walking Dead Season 6 premieres this fall on AMC.
