Walking Dead Season 6 Spoilers: Mega-Trailer Shows Daryl With a Gun to His Head!
For any fan of The Walking Dead, the highlight of every San Diego Comic Con is the cast panel and the mega-trailer that goes along with it. Seeing as the TWD panel took place earlier today, July 10, we have a new mega-trailer for you to parse over until Season 6 starts on October 11, 2015. Check it out below!
There’s plenty of drama packed into the nearly four-minute clip and while we’ll study the entire trailer in depth in the time we have before Season 6 debuts let’s take a minute to pull out some of the big scenes and plot points we can expect in the first half of the season.
For starters, a horde of walkers are threatening Alexandria, which makes sense given the fact that the front gate was left open in the Season 5 finale, and Season 6 is picking up pretty much right where we left off.
And that tension we were picking up on between Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan Jones (Lennie James) in this photo? Totally real. We think. Desperate to take control of a now struggling Alexandria, Rick is seemingly mowing over anyone who might get in his way in order to keep Alexandria safe. Including his old pal Morgan who vows to “stop” Rick, presumably before things get out of hand. Oh Morgan, don’t you know there’s no stopping Rick “I’ll Eat Your Throat Out” Grimes?
Much of the trailer seems to pit the two men against one another. “If you’re choosing this life you will die,” Morgan tells someone we’re at least lead to believe is Rick. “You get the hell out of here and you don’t ever come back,” Morgan adds.
On the other hand we have Rick, who has a gun pointed at someone’s head as he rants about the importance of Alexandria. “You really think you’re going to take this community from us? From Daryl? From Michonne? From Glenn? From me?”
As we get a shot of Morgan in the middle, Rick concludes his tirade with a very intense “Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?!”
We’re clearly being lead to believe that Rick and Morgan are at odds, but that could also be some clever editing at work and Rick and Morgan could, in reality, be speaking to completely different people as opposed to each other.
In the final 40 seconds of the trailer (separated from the quick shots of scenes), we see that some guy (perhaps one of the wolves) has a gun pointed at Daryl Dixon’s (Norman Reedus) head. “Here’s the deal,” the gunman says. “You don’t say shit and I don’t kill you.”
“I ain’t who you think I am,” Daryl replies.
The trailer concludes with a harrowing scene featuring Daryl making his way through the woods, seemingly running for his life.
Fans have said that they will rio should Daryl die on TWD, and it looks like showrunner Scott Gimple might just be testing that proposition this year. We’re rooting for ya, Daryl!
The Walking Dead Season 6 premieres with a 90-minute episode on October 11 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
