‘Walking Dead’ Season 6: Three Stars Promoted to Series Regulars
Congratulations are in order for The Walking Dead’s Alexandra Breckenridge, Tovah Feldshuh, and Austin Nichols. The actors — who portray Jessie, Alexandria leader Deanna, and her son Spencer, respectively — were just promoted to series regulars roughly a month ahead of the TWD Season 6 premiere on October 11.
Since any character can be killed off TWD at virtually any moment, hearing you’ve been promoted to series regular on the AMC drama is pretty much the best news anyone on the show could get. But what do these promotions actually mean for the actors and their respective characters?

At first glance you may think this makes these three characters less likely to be killed off. As the past has taught us, that isn’t really true. Actor Andrew J. West, who played Terminus cannibal Gareth, was promoted to series regular in March 2014 after making an appearance in Season 4 only to be killed off seven months later in the third episode of Season 5.
Alexandra, Tovah, and Austin all joined TWD in Season 5 in recurring roles and had the option to be promoted to series regulars in Season 6, The Hollywood Reporter points out.

These promotions bring TWD’s current roster of series regulars to 18 (topping last season’s count by one), and an all-time record for the successful drama. Alexandra, Tovah, and Austin join new series regular Lennie James, aka Morgan Jones, who returns following a handful of brief appearances dating all the way back to the pilot.
While these promotions make sense given we’ll likely be in Alexandria for some time going forward, we’re a bit curious about Jessie specifically, as reliable spoilers that emerged last week had her (and her son Sam) perishing in the Season 6 midseason finale.

These spoilers could be wrong, but it’s also possible Alexandra’s time as a TWD series regular will be short lived. Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see what happens!
The Walking Dead Season 6 premieres with a 90-minute episode on October 11 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
