Time Jump or Coma? ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8 Premiere Will Explain Old Man Rick
Will there be a time jump after all? Has Rick been dreaming the zombie apocalypse this entire time?
Don’t worry, Robert Kirkman promises we’ll know “Old Man Rick’s” secrets soon enough…
TWD’s record-breaking Season 8 trailer has caused quite a stir.
Carol is out of hiding, Maggie is back with the group, and Negan is about to taste Rick’s fury.
In a word, the trailer was epic.
But it was Old Man Rick that truly rocked the Walker Stalker community.
What does it all mean?
Robert initially spread more confusion when asked about the clip at an AMC panel for the Television Critics Association, Entertainment Weekly reports.
“Or was it the time jump? I don’t know, maybe it was Rick waking up from his coma. Wouldn’t that be weird?”
The showrunner then admitted that the scene was included specifically to mess with comic book fans.
“That is an intriguing tidbit that we did throw out there on purpose, and we’re hoping that people continue to question how it is that fits into the storyline and what it is.”
He continued, ““Comic book fans know where a scene that kind of looked like that would fall, but it also doesn’t seem like we would be getting to that just yet if you were a comic book fan, so there’s a mystery to that.”
Is this another of Rick’s daydreams like the happy picnic scene in the Season 7 premiere?
Or a flash forward perhaps? What if Season 8 is a flashback that gets us to the point of Old Man Rick?
While Robert wants us to keep asking these questions, he also promises we’ll have answers soon.
“I’m pretty sure you’ll learn in the first episode what that [Old Man Rick scene] means,” he teased.
