Wendy Williams Tearfully Apologizes Over “Victim-Shaming” Nelly’s Rape Accuser (UPDATE)

UPDATE (10/11/17 3.15 p.m. ET)

Wendy Williams is backtracking today — and has been forced to apologize — after she came to rapper Nelly's defense yesterday over rape accusations made against him.

Many accused the host of victim shaming when she said during her show yesterday, "Young lady, you've got to stay out of tour buses."

Today, she tearfully apologized and alluded to her own incident.

“Maybe cavalierly you caught my comments, saying you have to watch where you go.

"What I meant is, once upon a time there was a girl named Wendy, and she was only 13 years old but looked like a woman.

"I apologize if my message was met with callousness, but what I meant to say, is young ladies, we should be able to go wherever we want to go, but we always need to know where the exits are, and we always have to have our $20 bill just in case, and we have to be aware. I apologize.”

ORIGINAL STORY (10/10/17 1.01 P.M. ET)

Wendy Williams is sharing her opinions regarding Nelly’s rape accuser and people are not having it.

As many know, the rapper was arrested for second degree rape over the weekend after a woman claimed she was raped on his tour bus.

The talk show host opened up about the incident on Monday’s show and her thoughts had everybody talking.

The 21-year-old alleged victim said she met the 42-year-old at a club and joined him for an after-party on his bus.

He then reportedly tried to have sex with her and she said “no.”

During her show yesterday, the 53-year-old said the woman put herself in a bad situation.

“Well, you know, as a girl you don’t know what that feeling is like, use or not use [a condom]. All I’m saying is, she’s saying he didn’t use,” she shared.

“She’s also claiming he kicked her off the tour bus, afterwards, and threw $100 at her. If she hadn’t put herself in this situation this would not have happened, allegedly.”

She also said the woman should’ve known better than to get on his tour bus.

“Nelly is a rapper from the ’90s and into the 2000s, but still that’s relatively close to what we’re living in right now regarding internet, cell phones, litigious behavior on the part of people who don’t deserve it,” she continued.

“Young lady, you’ve got to stay out of tour busses.”

People were not happy with the mother of one’s comments and she was forced to defend herself during today’s show.

“It’s never an easy job sitting here in the lavender chair with nobody to bounce off of. So, sometimes, I might say something that you don’t understand. But, I am the girl to cop to it,” she said on Tuesday, October 10.

“During the story, I was telling you that there was a young woman who went on the tour bus… maybe cavalierly you caught my comments saying, ‘Well you gotta watch where you go.’ I didn’t mean anything by it.”

She then tearfully apologized for offending victims of sexual assault.

“All I’m saying regarding young women is, I apologize if my message was met with callousness,” she shared.
