Will Derek Hough Ever Return to ‘Dancing With the Stars’?
The answer is yes — at some point, anyway.
"Yeah, absolutely," the 31-year-old told Access Hollywood when asked if we'd ever see him back in the ballroom.
"Dancing with the Stars is my family. I've been a part of that show for so long and I can't imagine not being a part of that show somehow," the six time champ added.
That said, the dancer, who has become a star in his own right, already has a lot on his plate these days.
For one thing, he's been cast as Corny Collins in Hairspray Live, which airs on NBC on December 7.
Plus, he has the even bigger commitment of playing the lead in the upcoming Broadway production of Singin' in the Rain.
That show will begin in the 2016-17 Broadway season, and has most recently been rumored to be debuting around January.
It sounds like Derek will be very busy with rehearsals in the fall, plus he could be on Broadway come spring.
The ambitious dancer is known for pushing himself, so neither of these commitments automatically rule out another season as a pro. But we wouldn't be shocked to see him take the entire year off, or only show up as a guest judge or choreographer.
Whatever he decides about DWTS, we wish Derek good luck with all his cool new projects!
