‘WAGS’ Star Barbie Blank on Possible WWE Return and Her Upcoming Wedding — Exclusive
On this week’s episode of WAGS, former WWE Diva Barbie Blank admitted to the rest of the athlete wives and girlfriends she wanted to move on from the Kelly Kelly persona — though she keeps getting “sucked right back in.” And it looks like that could mean a return to wrestling sooner than you think!
When Wetpaint spoke with Barbie recently, we couldn’t help but ask the hockey wife — she’s engaged to retired NHL star Sheldon Souray — is she would consider going back to the WWE.
“Never say never,” the 28-year-old says coyly. “I loved being in the WWE and I owe a lot of my success and where I came in my career to them. So I would never rule out a return — maybe a one-night only thing, you never know!”
Yes, please! Even if she doesn’t show up on Monday Night RAW in the coming months, Barbie is still well-immersed in the WWE community… especially thanks to her recent E! reality show, which airs directly after Total Divas — a show she tunes into often.
“I think it’s great for people to see the behind the scenes of what we go through in the WWE with the travel and all the drama with the girls,” Barbie explains, before confirming that, yes, “it is all real and all that stuff happens.”
Outside of her day job, the wrestling vet, who retire in 2012, is still close with quite a few of her fellow WWE alums. “You’re like a big family on the road with these people 300 days a year, and I worked there for seven years, so you gain a lot of friendships.”
It’s a good thing she’s got that support, because Barbie butted heads with fellow WAG Olivia Pierson off the bat. The blunt brunette insinuated hockey players are cheaters, which caught Barbie off guard; she’d never heard anything like that before.
But things may change soon between the two. Barbie teases “the unexpected happens towards the end” between her and Olivia, which will change the dynamic of the rest of the group
How this affects the guest list for her January 30 wedding in Cabo San Lucas remains to be seen. For now, the bride-to-be says she hasn’t finalized her invitations but she’s planning for around 90 people and some of those will be her wrestling friends. In fact, two of her bridesmaids are former WWE Divas: recently-retired Layla El, and Maryse Ouellet (wife of Mike “The Miz” Mizanin.)
It’s going to be one helluva reunion and we can’t wait to see the pics!
WAGS airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET on E!
